About

Why Marigold?

For us, it’s not just about being part of someone's special days– it’s helping with the tiniest details to take your event to the next level. After months (sometimes years!) of planning and dreaming, it's worth it to have a team in place making sure everything goes according to plan. We pay attention, and we make it happen.

From holding the curling iron to touch up a bride’s hair to arranging for outfit assistance for the brides and bridesmaids, giving church reading recommendations, creating extra floral arrangements on the fly,  choreographing a sangeet dance, making sure the groomsmen show up on time, designing wedding signage, and working with the photographer to catch a few additional shot requests, we’re always ready and willing to put in the extra effort. It helps that we’re both hyper organized and detail-oriented, but we also bring a lot of complementary skills to the table that help us offer the complete package, customized to your needs.

After meeting while coordinating our mutual friend’s wedding, an elegant, large-scale event for 300 guests at one of the most iconic venues in Chicago, we immediately clicked. Coordinating for our first wedding together took weekly calls and multiple spreadsheets as we handled most of the planning virtually through the pandemic. While it took a lot of work, we really learned how much we were capable of handling – and more importantly, we created a (mostly) stress-free day for the bride and groom and a seamless experience for the guests as well. Who knows who brought up this idea of this business first – the other one instantly jumped on board. We knew we could handle anything thrown at us, and have a blast along the way!

We're honored for the opportunity to help create the very best version of your celebration,

Jamie and Sylvia

Our Team

Jamie James, Co-Founder

Having grown up in Nashville, and then braved the cold in Chicago, Jamie now calls DC home. When she's not working in the nation's capitol, she's keeping up with friends and exploring the DMV (let's be honest, mostly the bakery scene). Jamie's experience ranges from planning baby showers, birthday parties, celebrations, weddings, and being a bridesmaid herself more times than she can count. Coordinating events is something she truly enjoys and looks forward to helping clients enjoy their event without sweating any of the details.

Sylvia Vadakara, Co-Founder

Sylvia lives in Baltimore, MD. With an extensive background in branding, graphic design, and event marketing, she has worked on bringing amazing events to life, from large-scale concerts to business launches to baby showers. She is excited to take her professional creative experiences and apply it to Marigold Collective. Outside of work, Sylvia loves to stay busy with traveling, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. After an event has gone particularly well, you'll find her celebrating on the dance floor.

Testimonial

We got married in June of 2022, and were so blessed to have found Jamie and Sylvia. They were so hands on from the start. They really helped us to stay organized and stream-lined our wedding planning process. From the weekly video calls, to the online tools they shared, to the friendly phone check-ins--we couldn't have asked for better wedding coordinators.

They brought our vision for our perfect wedding day to a reality; they made sure our day was classy and elegant as well as incorporating some of the personal touches that we wanted. They were able to seamlessly handle last minute hiccups in a way that neither the guests or we--the bride and groom--took notice.

We were so impressed by Jamie and Sylvia! They are really top notch, and we couldn't stop saying their praises. If you are getting married, we highly recommend their services!
